To own a static holiday caravan you will investing between £5000.00 and £50,000.00, possibly more dependent on your chosen caravans specification, do you really want to find your caravan badly damaged and then not receive any help and in truth a total disinterest from both the site staff and Park Holidays UK head office?

Still cannot get a reply from Ian Smith the operations manager at head office or the holiday park, left with no choice but to go to court to get the deposits back for the gate keys, gas bottles and the unused part of the years site fees paid at Harts Holiday Park.

Harts Holiday Park :

What i find partially disturbing is while waiting for my wife to hand the keys in to the sales office at Harts Holiday Park i parked around the side of the sales office and whilst waiting i was told by two different people that the office was already aware of the damage and in fact one person went as far to say that the damage had actually been reported to a member of staff while the damage was actually taking place.

Since we have left the Harts site another nearby caravan owner phoned us and they also say this was reported while the damage was taking place to our caravan.

What do you think of this? when the keys were being handed in the manager said we could have been moved to another pitch, before considering if this was a fair offer or not, lets consider the facts we did nothing, it was our caravan that was badly damaged and yet we are being told it is us who should move sites at a cost of £800.00 plus, forget the cost just consider is this fair treatment?

Would you like to be treated like this if you owned a caravan on Harts?

It has been suggested we could as an alternative either hired the caravan out for holiday lets or sold the caravan.

Lets start with letting from this season 2009 caravan owners cannot put To Let signs in the caravan or chalet windows, and as a lot of letting's are done through day trippers walking around the various holiday parks, this really is a no go.

Selling we would not sell the caravan due to the damage, but even if we wanted to from this season 2009 no For Sale signs are allowed in the caravan or chalet windows and as many private sales were done by day trippers walking around this option has gone.

Why no For Sale signs, the answer is an easy one, if you cannot sell your own caravan or chalet on Harts Holiday Park, Leysdown (would imagine this applies to all Park Holidays UK sites) and decide you no longer want it, it's in your owners agreement that your caravan becomes the property of the site and they can sell it and keep all the profit from the sale.

(Where i had my previous static holiday caravan on Canvey Island) they used to break them up)

Not saying this is fair or unfair, just seems wrong that the site owners can profit if like us you are driven off the site through no fault of your own, what incentive is there for the site managers or site owners to take action against anti social behavior when they can only profit from it.

It does seem like it's to the companies advantage to have a few caravan or chalet owners who cause trouble or behave in an anti social manner and drive the normal people off as the company can only benefit financially, you buy your caravan, pay the site rent then when things go wrong and you leave your caravan can be sold again by the site and they can also collect another lot of site fees.
